CELEBRATING OUR FAITH

Our community and our services are welcome to all. Whether that be for initiation, baptism, anointing of the sick or in tribute of those who have passed on, we offer our care and support.

BECOME A PART OF OUR FAMILY

The Catholic Community of St John Vianney Parish, Morisset, welcomes you.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a spiritual process whereby those who wish to learn more about the Catholic Faith are welcomed and accompanied by Parishioners and Sponsors to explore their relationship with God and how that is lived in the Catholic Tradition.

For all your equiries please contact the Parish Office.

ANOINTING THE SICK

1499 “By the sacred anointing of the sick and the prayer of the priests the whole Church commends those who are ill to the suffering and glorified Lord, that he may raise them up and save them. And indeed she exhorts them to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.”97 Catechism of the Catholic Church

Baby Baptism Ceremony
BAPTISM PROGRAM

To date, the “Pre-Baptism Program” has been a great success with as many as 30 Baptisms in a year.

The program consists of two sessions of approximately 1½ hours after the Sunday morning Mass. The sessions are held 6 times a year in February, April, June, August, October and December. Team members include John and Uta France, Jenny Douglas and
Kay Amon.

Most of our families have responded very positively and are then included in the follow-up “Godstart” program, where the Children are sent a card on their next four birthdays followed with a little ‘Prayer Book’ and ‘Activity Book’. Further to this is the personal invitation of all Baptised children now pre-kinder, and their parents, to an information night at the School regarding the next year’s School enrolments. The School and the Parish collaborate with a get-together later in the year so families can meet and see facilities.

Julie Hutchins is instrumental in carrying out the “Godstart” initiative.

Both programs have worked well and are going from strength
to strength.

NOTE: For Adult baptism enquiries refer to “RCIA” Program.

FUNERAL OR MASS SERVICE

Funerals are carried out with simplicity, joy, sadness and in a supportive atmosphere. Our Parish funeral ministers, Uta France and Dan Joyce, help grieving families to prepare the funeral ceremony of their loved one, and help to compose a simple outline for families to put together an “Order of Service” booklet for the occasion. Both have completed a Diocesan course for “Presiders at Funerals” and have been authorized by Bishop Michael Malone to conduct Funeral Services. They have extensive Pastoral experience in this position.

To arrange a Funeral Service or Mass please contact the Parish Office.
